My personal journey to holistic health

My initial exposure to the advantages and benefits of mother-nature began during my early years. Growing up in northern Russia, I learned about herbalism from my grandpa, who collected plants in the woods; prepared teas and tinctures to use through long winters; and explained their benefits to me.

Driven by curiosity about the living world, I began studying Organic Chemistry. As I moved through the standard education system and learned modern concepts of healthcare, I slowly grew disillusioned with treating symptoms through medication instead of addressing underlying causes.

What began with my grandfather, inspired me to later pursue my own interest in herbalism and dietary approaches, giving me a more complete perspective.

 

In adulthood, my real journey towards a natural and balanced way of living began with persistent health issues. A simple cold and/or flu often turned into prolonged pre-asthmatic coughs that left me feeling weak and required steroids or antibiotics.

I have vivid memories when in my 40th year, severe back pain put me in bed for a week relying on painkillers. Subsequently, this led to a yeast infection and further treatments, creating a cycle where treating one issue caused another. It took me three months to achieve full recovery.

Certainly, in my youth, I took my health for granted, but NOT any more. One day I asked myself: “What steps can I take today to improve my health? Is it time to start loving myself and prioritising my wellbeing?” So, my journey began!

Now I know if I look after my health and wellbeing, everyone around me benefits as well. Like sickness, good health is also contagious!
